A Pantry Ballet (in Four Acts) by Martin Kennedy
Scored for 6 C Flutes, Alto Flute and Bass Flute

A Pantry Ballet in Four Acts takes its name from A Pantry Ballet (for Jacques Offenbach), a 1942 work by by the legendary New York artist Joseph Cornell.  Using everyday materials, Cornell was able to create many different worlds and images within the environs of his small "shadow box" constructions.  Working with a small aggregate of notes and rhythms, creators of music set out to accomplish much of the same goal: contructing different worlds from natural sounds.
