Assobio a JatoScore and PartsComposer: Villa-LobosEditor: Mascaro and NewmanPublisher: Asterisk MusicInstrumentation: Flute and Guitar
Heitor Villa-Lobos(1887-1959) The title refers to the sound created by an extended technique the composer requires of the flutist in the final measure of the last movement: "imitating whistling in ascending pitches". To produce this "jet whistle" effect, the player blows directly and forcefully into the embouchure hole of the flute as if warming the instrument. The first blast should be fingered as a low D, the second, E, and so on ascending to A.
