flute choir score and parts

Aus Holberg's Zeit, Opus 40 composed by Edvard Grieg (1843-1907)
Arranged by Nancy Nourse for Flute Choir; Piccolo, 6 C flutes (optional: 2 flutes also double on piccolos), Alto flute, Bass flute

Grieg composed this piece for piano in the summer of 1884 in honor of the Bicentennary celebration of Danish literary figure Ludvig Holberg (1684-1754). Although Grieg used the baroque forms from the times of Holberg, the harmonic style is that of the ninetheenth century.

Flutes 2 and 6 should have the B extension, and Flutes 2 and 4 should use piccolos if possible for a unified color in the trio of the Praelude movement. The bass flute part is optional but preferred.

5 movements: 1) Praelude   2) Sarabande   3) Gavotte   4) Air   5) Rigaudon
