The Birthday of a King is a beautiful festive piece that portrays an exciting event in history. The music is majestic and stately. Ideally, the arrangement should be played using four C flutes and an Alto flute. However, there are parts for the fifth part to be another C or Bass Flute. The option is up to the perfomers. In either case, the piece works nicely. Technically, the parts are not very demanding. Rhythms can be tricky is some spots, especially with the use of double-dotted quarter notes. The full range of the instrument is used from low C to the high Bb. This is an exciting addition to your holiday collection of music. Although not a very common song, it will capture your heart by surprise.
