Carmen-Impressionen (Carmen Impressions) - Book 2 by Georges Bizet
Edited by Kurt Walther
Arranged for 4 C Flutes
Includes score and parts

1.; Habanera
The young gypsy Carmen works in a tobacco factory in Seville. As the lunchbreak approaches, a group of young men is waiting at the factory gate for Carmen and other "brown beauties" to flirt with them. Carmen coquettishly plays the game: "Love is a rebellious bird that nobody can tame, and it's all in vaine to call it if is chooses to refuse." The "habanera" has become famous throughout the world, and is one of the reasons why the opera "Carmen" has become so extraordinarily popular.

2. Seguidilla
Carmen gets into an argument with other workers, she draws a knife but the officer of the guard can wrench it from her. The sergent Don Jose is ordered to take Carmen to prison. She tries to seduce the soldier and promises him a rendezvous in a tevern on the outskirts of the town: "Near to the ramparts of Seville, at my friend Lillas Pastla's tavern, I am going to dance the sequidilla, and drink manazilla. Yes, but one gets bored all alone, and real pleasures are shared by two, so to keep me company, I'll take my lover along."
