flute choir score and parts

Chaconne, composed by Henry Purcell (1659 - 1695)
Transcribed for flute choir by James Pellerite.

Scored for three-part flute choir:  1st Flute, 2nd Flute, 3rd Flute (C Flute, optional Bass Flute, optional Alto Flute)

This composition is transcribed from Dioclesian, an opera in five acts. Designed for an expandable flute choir, the following combinations are suggested, and if desired, the flute choir may be increased in size in multiples producing the best acoustical balance:

8 - 1st Flute
8  -2nd Flute
4 - 3rd Flute (alto flute, bass flute, plus 2 C flutes or 6 C Flutes)

If performing in a large venue (church or concert hall), it is recommended that the three parts be separated for antiphonal effect, the third part being in the center.
