Germaine Tailleferre (1892-1983)
Edited by Philippe Bernold
Duration: 14 min

*2 pianos are required to perform this work. Concertino is scored for two soloists (flute and piano) and piano accompaniment (orchestra reduction).

Taifferre's Concertino was composed in January 1952 and premiered on January 27, 1953 by a stellar cast including Jean-Pierre Rampal, Robert Veyron-Lacroix and the "orchestre de la radio-diffusion francaise". The manuscript mysteriously disappeared after the first performance, so the piece was never published. This edition is reconstructed from a manuscript donated to the publisher by flutist Jacques Castagner, in combination with a transcription by Desire Dondeyne from the original poor quality concert tapes recorded at the premier performance, from which the second movement was omitted.

Concertino was first composed for 2 pianos and flute, the second piano playing what would become the orchestra part. The orchestration was completed in February 1952.
