Concerto Grosso Op6 #8 (Fatto per la Notte di Notte di Natale)
Christmas Concerto by Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713)
Arranged for 3 Flutes or Flute Orchestra by W. Weinzierl & E. Wachter

Arcangelo Corelli was born in Italy in 1653, and this is part of a larger group of 12 concerti grossi.  The concerti grossi was originally published in 1714, and was composed shortly before his death.  This concerto grosso is also known by the name Fatto per la notte di natale, and was written for the occasion and celebration of Christmas.  This arrangement can be played both by a trio with two large flutes and an alto or bass flute(alternatively a cello) and by a seven-part flute choir. The modest technical requirements in most of the movements permits even flautists at an early stage in their training to perform in one of the major works in musical history.

Instrumentation:
Concertino (Solo Flute 1, Solo Flute 2, Solo Bass Flute or Solo Alto Flute or Solo Cello)
Concerto Grosso (Flute 1, Flute 2, Alto Flute, Bass Flute)
