Coronation March from "Le Prophete"
Composer: Meyerbeer
Publisher: Adams Magnificent Music
Instrumentation: Flute and Harp

A noted German opera composer, he was the first great exponent of grand opera.  Though rarely performed today, he was considered the most famous and successful composers of opera in Europe around the mid-nineteenth century.  This five act opera is based on John of Leiden, whose beloved Berthe is coveted by the Count Oberthal (ruler of Dordrecht).  John of Leiden is persuaded by a trio of sinister Anabaptists to proclaim himself king in Munster.  This instrumental piece is found in Act 4, after John or Jean has taken the city of Munster and proceeds his coronation.   This is arranged for flute and harp by Phyllis and Monty Adams.
