Dictionary of Music Terms and Chordsby Albert DeVitoPublished by Hal LeonardSoftcover
Preface: Music Terminology has taken a vast leap forward within the past ten years from its past heritage heading for the twenty-First Century. Traditional terms are still a strong force, especially from the Italian, French and German languages. However since then, new technology has taken over which has wedged its way through since the beginning of MIDI (Musical Instruments Digital Interface). Perhaps to the traditional musician, these terms may appear strange. The door has opened with new possibilities unforeseen. We have now enter the Fifth Generation of Computer Technology since the vacuum tube. First Generation - vacuum tubes Second Generation - transistors Third Generation - intergrated circuits Fourth Generation - new and smaller circuits Fifth Generation - easier technology capable of understanding the human voice. In relationship to CD-ROM, the wealth of knowledge is unbelievable. Beyond all of this, future generations will have new UNIVERSES of exploration for research and will add to this as new frontiers step into the picture. It is the author's wish that this dictionary will be a new beginning for those with a traditional background for further exploration. There will be no limit as to where this will all lead as the UNIVERSE is limitless and timeless. Mankind can only limit him/her self until the unseen ties are broken. When this happens, we can all realize that we are ONE, Always have been and Always will be. Progress will be continued without any barriers of negativity which put halters on a wonderment of activity. Blessed by with UNIVERSAL LOVE I am - Albert DeVito
