Known as the American March King, he was a late Romantic era composer, as well a conductor.  One of the more melodic and less military of Sousa's marches, it was written for the Boston Food Fair in 1908.  It is claimed that it is a memory of a girl he had seen at an earlier fair was the inspiration of this march.  An optional bass clarinet is provided, if a bassoon is not available.
