Flautista - A Suite of Latin Dances - Volume 2
Written for flute choir by John W. N. Palmer
Scored for Piccolo, 5 C Flutes, Alto Flute, Bass Flute, optional Contrabass Flute and optional Drum Set, Claves and Maracas.

This suite of Latin dances is the composer's interpretation of some of the more popular rhythm patterns and styles:  the paso doble and the samba.  The paso doble is a kind of showy, one-step dance.  Both Spanish and military in origin, it easily evokes images of a matador flourishing his cape or doffing his three-cornered hat.  The samba, the quickest of the dances in both volumes of the suites, is of Brazilian origin.  The overall sense of a samba is very light, and the composer has suggested a fast and light approach to this popular dance.
