Full Circle Boehm Flute Headjoint
Full Circle Boehm Flute Headjoint

The Boehm style headjoint has a rounded, slightly rectangular embouchure and a relatively thick wall. This thickness, while it provides far less resistance than the highest modern headjoint risers, gives the Boehm model a special eloquence and richness of tone, without sacrificing the responsiveness we expect in a headjoint of its era. Like the Lot embouchure, the Boehm cut focuses the instrument's tone so that less effort is required to achieve a powerful sound with complete control. The Boehm is perhaps slightly less effective at the extreme soft end of the dynamic spectrum, and responds somewhat better to a forceful style of playing than the Lot.
