Fyfe's Carol composed by Martin Melicharek, IIIWritten for Flute Choir: Piccolo, 3 C flutes, Alto flute (or 4th C flute), Bass flute, Contrabass fluteIncludes score and partsDuration: 3:00"For many years my collection hymnals and old books containing Christmas carols has been a source for Christmas holiday arrangements for our flute choir. The Fyfe's Carol was referenced in a collection of carols by Sir Richard Terry called Two Hundred Folk Carols. Both setting of the First Noel can be heard in this adaptation. The second setting, Fyfe's Carol, opens the piece. The commonly sung version of the First Noel is heard following the presentation of the Fyfe's Noel. The melody moves from one section of the choir to another with octave intervals outlining the melody and harmonic underpinnings of the carol." -Performance Notes by Martin Melicharek, III
