Intermezzo from "Manon Lescaut"Composer: PucciniTranscriber: AdamsPublisher: Adams Magnificent MusicInstrumentation: Flute and Harp
He is an Italian composer whose operas are among the most frequently performed in the standard repertoire. He is also regarded as one of the last major Italian opera composers, part of the post-Romantic operatic tradition and literary style. An early opera, it is in four acts and is based on the 1731 novel of the Abbe Prevost. The title of the novel is L'histoire du chevalier des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut (The History of the Knight Grieux and Manon Lescaut). It is set in both in France and New Orleans, Louisiana. The Intermezzo is toward the end of the second act, while Des Greiux is journeying towards Le Havre, France, where Manon is in jail with other courtesans. This was arranged for flute and harp by Phyllis and Monty Adams.
