Sarabande from the ballet Solitaire (1956) by Malcolm Arnold
Arranged for flute and piano by Alan Poulton

Malcolm Arnold's Serabande, originally written for orchestra, was one of two new pieces added to his English Dances of 1951 to complete the score of Kenneth MacMillan's Solitaire, first performed in 1956 by the Royal Ballet at Sadler's Wells Theatre, London.  The Sarabande is the music used for the Pas de Deux, first performed separately in 1963 by Western Theatre Ballet in Bristol.
