Soaring composed by Jennifer GradyWritten for two Flutes and PianoIncludes score and parts "Soaring" is a piece that was inspired by the first trip I ever took alone. I went to the ocean and stayed in a small, old cabin by the beach. It was a warm, clear day. I opened the door and windows when I got there and let the sights and sounds wash over me. The wind picked up in the afternoon and I was fascinated by the sight of the gulls in the sky with their wings spread out wide, soaring in the breeze, rising and falling, only to rise again on the next gush without ever having to move their wings. Sitting on the porch, with my eyes closed, I imagined my arms outstretched without cares or worries, floating through the air with no fear of falling, just floating with only the sound of the wind in my ears and the sun on my face. In my solitude, the feeling of freedom and peace that I felt that afternoon was my inspiration.- Jennifer Grady (Performance Notes)
