Jacques Martin Hotteterre, also called 'le Romain', comes from a famous French musical family of mainly flautists and oboists.  Besides being a court musician, he was founder of the 18th century French flute school: he wrote important textbooks such as Principes de la flute traversiere (1707) and L'art de preluder sur la flute traversiere (1719).  He also composed chamber music, including numerous sonatas, duos, trios, suites, rondos, minuets, and other works for flute. The trio sonata for two recorders and basso continuo is one of the many successful works that Hotteterre has written.  For The Platinum Series, this sonata has been adapted for two flutes.
