Blind from birth, this Welsh 20th century composer was also a pianist, entertainer and satirist, and became a naturalized US citizen in 1941.  He moved to the United States in the 1930s, as part of a jazz band, and eventually had both a radio and television program.  This trio was composed when he was 18, and Templeton was complimented on it by Ralph Vaughn Williams.  The three movements are Allegro moderato, Andante (folk song that is also referred to as Shepherd's Air) and Molto Vivace.  Each individual part is equally important, with the melodic phrasing moving from one part to another.  The movements can be performed individually or as the larger piece.
