Written for solo piccolo by Pierre-Yves Artaud.
EOLE was composed in 1993 (and revised in 1997) at the insistance of on of the author's friends as a musical illustration for a video about wind-engines, and was first performed by the composer on March 18th, 1993 in Rennes. The piece is a study of new techniques applied to the piccolo, mostly the breathy sounds, pizzicati, whistle-tones and partial sounds. It is not at all a descriptive piece. Its atmosphere is intended to be simply transparent and fluid.
