Composed by Arthur Honegger
For Solo Flute
Historical introduction by Edmond Lemaitre
Notes on interpretation by Bruno Jouard
Published by Salabert

French publisher Editions Salabert has released this new edition of the Honegger “Danse De La Chevre”.  The previous edition by Salabert was edited by composer and musicologist Patrick Butin and contains notes and corrections (in the French language only) made to an earlier 1932 published version and the original manuscript from 1921.   While there do not appear to be any changes in the actual printed music, this new edition features a two-page  “Historical Introduction” by French musicologist Edmond Lemaitre which contains interesting background on the dancer Jane Lysana, who first danced to the piece in 1921 as part of a play called “La Mauvaise Pensee”,  and flutist Rene LeRoy (who would have only been 21 years old at the time), to whom Honegger dedicated the work.  This new edition also includes a two-page  “Notes On Interpretation” by French flutist Bruno Jouard.   Both the “Historical Introduction” and “Notes On Interpretation” are printed in French, English, Italian and German.
