Holiday Delight arranged by Ricky Lombardo for Flute ChoirIncludes score and partsInstrumentation:2 Piccolos3 C Flutes2 Alto Flutes (or C Flutes)Bass Flute (or C Flute)
This arrangement is extremely versatile in any flute choir situation as it is written in the expandable form. With the use of the first four parts, two piccolos and two C flutes, this composition will work successfully. As the other instruments become available, they are used to expand the harmonic structure and introduce new counter melodies.
"Holiday Delight" is happy and melodic while being novel in sections. Although "Silent Night" is the most serious part of the piece, one finds some surprises that deviate from the traditional and customary harmony. Further into the arrangement, some of the rhythms are tricky to read and may appear difficult until learned.
This composition is the kind of arrangements that grows infectiously on the performers. The more you play it, the more you like it. It is important to strive to play this up to tempo. Being played at the correct metronome marking will make this composition sounds as it intended.
Once learned, "Holiday Delight" will become a favorite with the performers and the audience. It is worth the challenged and effort required.
