Altus 946 Silver™ – Altus’ proprietary Altus Limited (AL) alloy combines silver with the world’s finest precious metals. It is a perfectly engineered blend consisting of 94.6% silver and 18 precious metals, including small amounts of platinum and gold. Inspired by the preferred metallurgy of the great French flute making tradition, Altus silver was designed specifically for seamed tube creation. Only Altus silver provides the correct silver blend for extensive hand forming and represents the highest art in flute making available today. This results in a flute capable of producing a wide array of complex tonal colors.
The 1807AL (Altus Limited) model has a seamed tube, crafted from a flat piece of silver that is rolled, hand planished, and then seamed. Additional features include .946 Altus Silver Seamed Tube, .925 Sterling Silver Mechanism, .997 Pure Silver Hinge Tubes, Soldered Tone Holes, SP-1 Springs, D# Roller. Each Altus flute includes a case, cover, cleaning rod, and cleaning cloth.
Classic Cut – Oval shaped embouchure hole – produces a sweet sound with flexibility and penetrating projection. Renowned for producing the trademark Altus sound.
Z Cut – More rectangular shaped embouchure hole and minimal over and undercutting, produces a quick response without sacrificing agility. Offers full projection over the entire range of the flute and a darker more dramatic tone color.
V Cut – The newest cut from Altus. The lip plate has a dramatic angle at the blowing edge. Most players find this option more powerful than the Classic or Z cut, with a gorgeous colorful sound.
