For flute and piano
Arranged by Wayne Fritchie

Originally written for piano in 1885, it was later arranged for wind band in 1891. The “patrol” format was popular in the second half of the 19th century, and was intended to represent a military band approaching, passing and fading into the distance. This tune incorporates melodies from two patriotic songs of the era–Dixie and Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean.
