Angel of Victory by Melvin Lauf, Jr.
For Piccolo and Piano
The first movement of Angel of Victory, Victory Variation, is written to sound like a fife march with several variations. The second movement, A Deserted Battle Field, leaves the listener feeling the wounded soldiers still present there on the battle field. The third and final movement, Flight of an Angel, is the flight that the angel takes while she soars overhead as she honors the soldier who fought for their new country's freedom. (The Angel of Victory is a statue built to commerorate the Battle of Monmouth).
