Instrumentation: Flute and Harp
Guilio Caccini was an Italian composer, teacher, singer, instrumentalist and writer in the very late Renaissance and early Baroque eras. He is also one of the founders of opera, and his son is composer Francesca Caccini. Though this piece has been attributed to Caccini, it is actually a musical hoax–written by Vladmir Vavilov in the 20th century under the name of Anonymous, and, a few years after it was first released, someone changed anonymous to Giulio Caccini. It has become very popular with different vocal soloists, including Andrea Bocelli and Charlotte Church, and lends itself well to flute and harp.
