Bulgarian Dances composed by Annika K. Socolofsky
For two flutes
Published by Annika K Socolofsky
Includes 2 scores
The first and third movements of this piece are inspired by Bulgarian folk tunes and rhythmic groupings. The flighty contrapuntal passages of the fast movements are inspired by the kaval–a breathy folk flute from the Balkans and surrounding regions. The middle movement is a recitative based on a lullaby by the great Armenian composer Gomidas Vardapet.
