Description
By a Secluded Lake (Peninsula Sketch No. 1) for solo flute and flute choir by Austin Alan Scott.
This composition is a result of a late afternoon's reflection on the shore of Durrance Lake, a remote body of water on the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Isalnd, British Columbia, Canada. Among the trees and beauty of the surroundings, the composer soon found the outlines of this little work taking shape. It should be played “come se sopra pensiero” – as if lost in thought, but with a general sense of well-being and contentment.
Scored for solo C flute, piccolo (doubling on C flute), 2 C flutes, alto flute (or 3rd C flute), bass flute
