Carol of the Bells by Mykola Leontovich
Arranged by Ann Cameron Pearce for Flute Choir and optional Hand Bells
Scored for either 6 C Flutes, or 4 C Flutes, Alto Flute and Bass Flute, with optional Hand Bells
The Ukranian New Year's song known as Shchedryk has gradually become a popular choice for the Christmas musical season. The original words for the piece express wishes for a rich harvest, happiness and hope. Scored for a minimum of 6C flutes, enhanced by substituting alto and bass on parts 5 & 6. Handbells require 2 players using 3 handbell trees. Handchimes may be used instead, but require 5 players. Piano, xylophone, or vibraphone may also be substituted for handbells.
