Performance Notes for the Performer:
This arrangement is extremely versatile in any flute choir situration as it is written in the expandable form. With the use of the first four parts, two piccolos and two C flutes, this composition will work successfully. As the other instruments become available, they are used to expand the harmonic structure and introduce new counter melodies.
The players must be aware of the tempo and key changes throughout. Although the selections are familar carols, their treatment is something surprising. The rhythms may be easier to lpay by “feel” once they have been learned.
Performance Notes for the Listener:
A delightful arrangement filled with energy and enthusiasm described Christmas Fantasy. Three familiar carols, Deck the Halls, It Came Upon the Midnight Clear and Angels We Have Heard on High are the basis of thsi composition. Each song has a fresh, unique treatment with introductions tying them into a charming medley. Contemporary harmony and tasteful voicings make this a happy creation.
