Concerto No. 5
Composed by Francois Devienne
For flute and piano
Reduction for flute and piano: Andre Papillon
Published by Doberman-Yppan
Devienne's Concerto #5 was published between 1784 and 1792. This edition by Andre Papillon for flute and piano closely follows the original in its scarce use of dynamics and articulation, while the piano accompaniment (including orchestral tutti sections) have been simplified. The first movement is in Bravura style. A brief eight-bar Adagio in the piano separates the first movement as an “Introduction” to the final movement's theme and variations. Both flute movements are quite challenging in technique and articulation, typical of other Devienne concerti.
