This Concerto by Johann Valentin Rathgeber (1682-1750) was originally written for two trumpets and strings. Rathegeber was a preacher and choir director but wrote one set of 24 concertos for various instruments. This work is not unlike the double Trumpet Concerto of Vivaldi with the two outer movements full of imitation and rhythmic interest.
All dynamics, articulations and some ornaments have been added by the arranger and may be ignored or altered to better suit the performers.
