Concerto in a minor by Joseph de Boismortier
Arranged for 3 C Flutes and Alto Flute by Henner Eppel
Includes score and parts
The concerto presented here is an arrangement of one of the 6 Concerti pour 5 flutes transversieres, Op15. This arrangement uses 4 flutes instead of 5 so that the work can be played by a flute quartet, one of the standard instrumentations of flute chamber music. Since Boismortier almost always leads the 4th and 5th flutes in parallel and to give this a somewhat “bass-less” instrumentation a solid basis, these two parts were combined to one played by the alto flute, which has more power in the bass range.
