“Crazy Rag” meets “Old Swing” composed by Alexander Hanselmann (1956)
Written for two Flutes and Piano
Includes score and parts
A modern Swiss composer, he is also a flutist and teacher. This piece contains two movements that can be played either as a flute duet or as flute duet with piano. There are chord symbols included in the piano part, which can provide further alternatives for an accompaniment with guitar, accordion or other keyboard instruments. The first movement, Crazy Rag, is like all ragtimes–not be played too fast, but with precise rhythm, and particular attention to articulation. The second movement, Let's Swing, is an adaptation of the composer's flute choir piece of the same name. He adapted it for this combination after several requests of the popular piece as a smaller ensemble.
