Description
The Creation by Joseph Haydn
For two flutes
From an edition of 1806
Edited by Karl Heinz Füssl
Score only
This arrangement for two flutes of music from Haydn's oratorio “The Creation” was originally published by Artaria of Vienna, probably in 1806. In that year Breitkopf & Hartel of Leipzig began to publish the symphonies of Haydn and Mozart, a project which was enthusiastically welcomed by the public. There may have been a connection between these editions of the symphonies and the publication of our arrangement, which was many other such arrangements that appeared in this period could barely satisfy the popular demand of music lovers for such works. The arrangement is certainly a worthwhile contribution in honour of “the immortal poet of the Creation”, as Georg Gaal put it in a poem on Haydn's “Creation” published likewise in 1806. – Karl Heinz Füssl
