Deck the Halls
Composed by John Parry Dall (1700s)
Arranged by Valarie Morris (2018)
for C Flute and Bass Flute
Published by Sandscape Publications
Includes 2 playing scores
In this arrangement of Deck the Halls, players visibly interact with each other, starting with a friendly competition. To the surprise of the C flute player, the low flute player displays an independent streak. With time and acceptance, it all works out congenially in the true holiday spirit.
Brief dashes through the snow, from James S. Pierpont’s Jingle Bells (1857), show up. Whether to exaggerate the interactions, described at the top of page 4 and other places, or keep them more subdued is your choice.
