Echo
Composed by Gerard Scronx
For Flute Choir
Arranged by David H. Bailey
Published by Falls House Press
Includes score and parts
Gerard Scronx was an early 17th century church organist in Liege. Many churches of the day contained several different organs in separate choir lofts or alcoves of the church. Such built-in antiphonal qualities led composers to write “echo” works for these organs. These echo compositions lend themselves to the modern flute choir , which can be divided into two groups placed far apart from each other. While not very technically demanding, the timing and other musical challenges make it interesting to performers and listeners alike.
Scored for piccolo, 2 C flutes, alto flute, 2 bass flutes
