18 Exercises or Etudes for the Flute
Composed by T. Berbiguier
Revised by Lamar Stringfield
Published by Carl Fischer
It will be found that these 18 studies by Berbiguier are interesting both to beginners in flute-playing and to more advanced players. Each study can be played either slowly or rapidly and still retain its musical value.
Signatures in parenthases may be used in facilitating transposition of a number of these studies into different keys. Changed accidentals made necessary by transpositions are indicated in parentheses immediately over the original accidental.
Absolute smoothness in all scale and arpeggio passages will add greatly towards assuring grace in each of these studies.
It will be noticed that there are no “reminders” of the key signature in which each study is written, (other than by the bar-line), to cancel any accidentals that might have occurred in the previous bar. By this method, it will be easier to keep the signature in mind without confusion.
