Preface:
The Andantino of the Fauré Fantasy is arguably one of the most beautiful pages (here expanded to two pages to make room for fingering suggestions) in the flute repertoire, on par with the Dance of the Blessed Spirits from Gluck's Orpheus or the slow movement of Mozart's D major quartet, K. 285a.
To play this piece well the flutist must understand the underlying harmonies. It is strongly suggested to play through the piano part many times, no matter how slowly, to understand how the harmony determines so much of the music.
