100 Progressive Melodies of 3 to 8 Notes with Piano Accompaniment
This collection of composers’ melodies intended for the first year of study comes from the teaching experience of Andrea Cappellari.
I am convinced that teaching practices designed for the beginner and a methodology for more direct basic music learning that accompanies traditional pedagogy are needed.
The one hundred melodies all come from compositions by classical composers. They employ a minimum of three to a maximum of eight notes, and arranged for beginning students. They are characterized by the absence of sixteenth notes, using the eighth note as the smallest value. As you continue in the study, the volume presents new positions on the flute with diagonal diagrams – just as the flute is held – which facilitate the study by the beginner. The collection, organized by progressive technical and musical difficulties, can also be used in a small group (with piano and/or another flute).
The fluency, the brevity and the simplicity of the beautiful melodies contained in the First Book of Classical Flute also facilitate the study of memorization. This ability, which must be exercised from the first steps on the instrument, will provide a sense of security and stability for the beginner.
