Description
Andantino (1883) and Andante (1884)
Composed by Paul Taffanel (1844-1908)
Edited by Edward Blakeman
Published by Pan Educational Music
The Andantino (1883) and Andante (1884) presented here are two of the six surviving miniatures composed by Taffanel as accompanied sight reading test pieces for the Paris Conservatiore's end-of-year competitions. Whereas most of these pieces were written with piano accompaniments, the Andante (perhaps due to pressure of time) was provided with only a single-line accompaniment marked to be played on a cello for the examination. This has been modified and expanded into a full piano part for the present edition.
