From My Home
Composed by Bedrich Smetana
For flute and piano
Piano edited and fingered by Michael Bent
Published by Expanded Musical Concepts
The first duo is in three sections and vacillates between major and minor–a common feature of Moravian folksongs. The second is more complex, containing a pastorella in canon form, a lively skocna, and a melodic echo of the song Sadness of a Deserted One.
Originally for violin and piano, this set of two open and lyrical pieces sings of the composer’s nostalgia for his homeland. Contains rapid triple tonguing and 4th octave D’s.
