“Friedrich Kuhlau's Grand Duo was originally composed in 1821. This sonata is a masterpiece in Kuhlau's chamber music oeuvre, and very soon it became so popular, that within a short time after its composition it was arranged for the flute several times. The French Flutist Paul Hippolyte Camus was the first to discover it and he transposed it from F minor to G minor; made minor changes to make it more suitable for the flute, and around 1830, edited it as a Grand Duo for the French music publisher Aristide Farrenc. With his very successful transcription Camus managed to enrich the flute literature with yet another Kuhlau masterpiece.”-Andras Adorjan (Preface)
