How Can I Keep from Singing composed by Kile
Arranged for 3 C flutes, and Piano (Optional Alto flute and Harp)
Includes score and parts
This lovely melody has been known to have come from the Quaker tradition, and it IS a hymn tune, but it actually was penned by a Baptist preacher, Robert Lowry, who lived from 1826-1899. He wrote many gospel hymns, and was also an American professor of literature. The opening and closing phrases are very effective if played by a solo alto flute, but solo C flute is fine if an alto is not available. This piece works well as a trio with piano, or as a larger choir.
