'Il Signor Bruschino' Overture by Gioacchino Rossini, arranged for flute orchestra by Shaul Ben-Meir.
The opera 'Il Signor Bruscino' (or The Accidental Son) is a one-act operatic farce, the last of four Rossini composed. (The acting and comedic talents of the performers were often more important than their vocal abilities!) In this score, Rossini calls for the second violins to tap their bows on their music stands. (Knocking at the door at an inopportune moment, or simply the conductor calling for attention?) This early use of special effects foretells the trend of using common instruemnts in uncommon ways.
Scored for 6 C Flutes, 2 Alto Flutes, Bass Flute and String Bass. Includes score and parts.
