In a Jolly Mood
Flute part and Vibraphone score
Instrumentation: Flute and Vibraphone
Edited by Ruth Wentorf/Bernd Kremling. The musical language of the piece tends towards music from the jazz and rock sphere infused with romanticism, like that played by Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett and others in the 70's. This music was designated “beautified jazz”, meaning beautified jazz based on chamber music instrumentation, which, with its directness, creates an immediate charm and “a jolly mood”. The peaceful introduction is followed by the thematic material played on the flute, accompanied by the vibraphone. The whole piece then develops, with frequent imitations and with solo flute passages accompanied by the vibraphone.
