Description
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, Chorale from the Cantata #147 composed by JS Bach
Arranged by Wolfgang Birtel for Flute and Piano
Includes score and parts
Newly appointed as Cantor at St Thomas' Church in Leipzig, Bach composed the Cantata #147 for a service on July 2, 1723, the feast of the Visitation of Mary. This cantata is actually a fresh setting pf a previous work composed by Bach in 1716 for performance in Weimar, though that piece has been lost. The perfect simplicity of the concluding cantata from BWV 147 has an addictive appeal to the ear. The present arrangement makes this classical hit available for performance by a solo instrument with piano or organ accompaniment.
