One of the most prominent composer of impressionist music, this French composer was crucial in the transition to the modern era of Western music. Originally for piano, this is one of the movements from the Children's Corner, a piece dedicated to Debussy's daughter Claude-Emma. The Little Shepherd is about a shepherd and his flute. Within the piece, there are three solos with commentaries, creating different moods along with using dissonances to create tonality.
