The Little Hornpipe by Ricky Lombardo
For Solo Piccolo
This unaccompanied piccolo solo is of moderate difficulty for the intermediate level student. Although not technically difficult, there are several challenging musical concepts one can work on to perfect this for a performance. Dynamics, articulations and tempo changes, which are very important to the personality and character of the music, are used abundantly throughout the composition.
The Little Hornpipe has a very cute melody and will be an enjoyable piece of music to work on and perform. This short composition is ideal for a young piccoloist that needs to work on several fundamentals other than technique.
