Morceau de Concours
Composer: Gabriel Faure (1845-1924)
Transcriber: William Ghezzi
Publisher: Trillenium Music Company
Instrumentation: Flute and Guitar
Includes flute part and guitar score
One of the leading French composers of his generation, Faure is considered to be the link between the end of Romanticism and the modernism of the second quarter of the 20th century. Originally written as a competition piece for flute and piano at the Paris Conservatory, he wrote this piece on Bastille Day in 1898. It was not performed for many years, until the music was rediscovered in 1970. The chordal nature of the accompaniment lends itself very well to the guitar.
